BILLY GENOCIDE - it's finally done...well...

Posted by dlasal - August 28th, 2008

Yeah, it's done, if anything is ever really done. I could have continued to tweak, polish and adjust it for another year or more probably, but I think sometimes you have to say it's done before you over work it. Anyway, if your a zombie fan give it a play.

Here are some zombie movie recommendation's:

*Night of the Living Dead - the 1968 George Romero genre-defining zombie movie. Also, the 1990 remake (directed by Tom Savini) is not that bad. And even more surprising was Night of the Living Dead 3D from 2006, featuring Sid Haig. Not a masterpiece, but an honestly decent low-budget zombie flick, in 3-D no less.

*Dawn of the Dead - George Romero's 1979 follow up to his original. This is hands down my personal favorite, and really elevated the genre to the "end of the world" scale. And I have to admit the 2004 "re-make" is actually quite good, but it's not really a remake. It just has the same name.

*Day of the Dead - The third in George Romero's series from 1985. I must admit when I first saw this one in high school I was disappointed because I was hoping for another Dawn, but this movie is better than it's been given credit for, and has aged very well. I know there's a remake of this one too, but I'm afraid to watch it.

*Land of the Dead & Diary of the Dead - 2005 & 2007. I like both of these movies, but they do require the viewer to agree to certain rules that are debatable. In the case of Land, we have to believe that in time zombies will regain some ability to think. In Diary we have to accept the unbelievable premiss that anyone would continue to shoot video during an end of the world crisis. Once your past those issues, there's a lot of good stuff in these.

*Shawn of the Dead - 2004. Hands down the best zombie movie in the past ten years!

*28 Day's Later -2002. An interesting art house take on the genre. Undead are replaced by infected. A little too much shakey-cam for me, but still a decent watch.

*Fido - 2006. Another excellent zombie comedy, widely overlooked.

Here are some zombie game recommendation's:

*The Last Stand, part 1 & 2 - we all know what these are, and they're awesome.

*Resident Evil 4 - I played the hell out of this game on the ps2. I know they're not traditional zombies, but the slow, approaching mobs really capture the mood.

*Dead Rising - I used to watch clips of this one online before I got my 360. When I finally got it, the first twenty minutes of play (after the initial chopper sequence) where a little sketchy, but after the first hour I was sold. Even though it has flaws, this game has the best zombie mobs I've ever seen in a game. When you're in the underground garage, driving the car through them...awesome.

cool.

I gotta say, i played both of your games and i can see you have more than great talent, you have a gift to make games.
In short: Great job!
hope to see more from you

I can't express fully how excellent it is to read such a huge compliment! The only way I can respond is with a simple, humble "thanks".

Dude! I've been looking for good Zombie movies EVERYWHERE!
thanks for the list :)

Enjoy!

You only "mentioned" the remake of dawn of the dead, which was good, I didn't like land of the dead so much, I don't like the whole "zombies can think" or the ending, y'know "hey, lets go to Canada!"

I don't see how a flash animator, such as yourself, with 2 good quality games can have so few replies on his "blog".
